Discover Parma
Parma is a city that naturally combines elegance, culture and quality of life. Refined yet never distant, compact yet rich in history, it offers World Pasta Day participants far more than simply a congress venue. It is a city best experienced on foot, letting its squares, palaces, monumental architecture and atmosphere guide the way; an atmosphere that is at once cultured, welcoming and deeply Italian.
Here, culture has a distinct sound. Parma is a city of music and theatre, inextricably linked to the names of Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini, and it continues to express this vocation through the Teatro Regio, the Toscanini concert seasons and the events that animate the city and its surrounding area. In Parma, music is not merely a historical legacy, but a living part of the local identity.
Alongside music, Parma preserves an artistic and architectural heritage that gives it character and depth. The historic centre, its squares, porticoed streets, cultural landmarks and the city’s measured rhythm create an experience defined by understated beauty, never ostentatious. It is precisely this sense of harmony, more than any dramatic effect, that makes Parma so memorable to those who discover it.
Parma is also one of the symbolic capitals of Italian gastronomic culture. Its designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy reflects an authentic relationship between territory, productive expertise, tradition and innovation. Here, food is not simply an excellence to be savoured, but an integral part of the city’s identity, economic life and international image.
The area surrounding Parma further strengthens this identity. At the heart of the Food Valley, the city exists within an ecosystem where quality production, businesses, research, food safety and technology are interwoven every day. It is no coincidence that such a strong gastronomic tradition and a solid industrial vocation coexist here, in a setting that speaks with equal authority to the worlds of food and innovation.
For those attending World Pasta Day, Parma therefore represents a choice perfectly aligned with the meaning of the event. It is a city that expresses the value of food through culture, music, art, work and territory. A place that enriches the congress and transforms every stay into a broader, more authentic and more meaningful experience.
